Dr. Bob's Hand Crafted Ice Creams is a high butterfat, intensely flavored ice cream created by Dr. Robert Small, a professor at Cal Poly University in Pomona, California. Dr. Bob has had a love affair with ice cream since he was five. He finally couldn't resist the opportunity to create what he believes is the best ice cream available anywhere. Dr. Bob has sought out the highest quality ingredients available, including Scharffen Berger chocolates, to create his incredibly flavored ice creams; no expense is spared. In his first year of operation, Dr. Bob won nine medals (5 gold, 4 silver) at the Los Angeles County Fair, the largest county fair in the country. In the past three competitions that Dr. Bob has entered, his ice cream has won 30 gold medals.

In the twenty plus years since that glorious day when Amy's first opened for business, the company has never stopped evolving. A short foray into the Dallas tourist market and an attempted pint size marketing project proved valuable learning tools. Now with ten stores in Austin, two in Houston, one in San Antonio, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin, Amy Simmons is considered by many to be the ice cream guru of central Texas.
In 1968, Bill and his wife Mary, started a new chain of retail stores in Oklahoma called BRAUM'S ICE CREAM AND DAIRY STORES. That first year, twenty-four stores were opened in Oklahoma. Because the Braum dairy herd and processing plant were still located in Emporia, Kansas, the ice cream, dairy products and other supplies had to be transported daily from Emporia, Kansas to Oklahoma. For three years, Braum's stores were serviced from the plant in Emporia until a new processing plant was built in Oklahoma City in 1971. Today, there are over 280 Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Stores throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Missouri and Arkansas. The company remains family owned and operated.
